Leasure Tourism Development
Leasure and Associates, Inc. was established in 1989 to design and build a historical themed resort in the southwestern part of the United States. The firm is associated with experienced designers, artists, interpretative specialists, historians, and financial consultants, covering a wide range of expertise in the historical, entertainment, tourism, and recreation industry. Leasure and Associates offers a unique combination of artistic and technical talent applicable to a wide range of projects.
Early in the twentieth century, the automobile changed American society. Hundreds of thousands of people who had never seen an ocean, traveled to the coast to do just that, see the ocean. The primary reason for touring in an automobile was to go and see the sights, because your parents and most of your neighbors had not seen whatever location you were going to visit.
In the latter part of the twentieth century, American society has changed again. One no longer has to travel in order to see the natural and manmade wonders of the world. Sights and sounds of these marvelous creations are brought into our homes by any number of means and media. It is no longer a mark of distinction to have “seen” the Grand Canyon or to have “done” New England.
There is so much information available that individuals have had to become selective. They take care in determining to what they will allot a limited amount of attention. They want to be involved. They want an in-depth experience that they cannot get from a cathode ray tube, or digital image. They want to learn. They want to enhance their own lives, and the lives of their children.
With more than twenty-five years in the tourism industry, Leasure and Associates has developed an acute awareness of the changing values of the traveling public. Leasure and Associates has developed a unique formula for developing the themes and concepts that will attract today’s tourist. At the core of this formula is an existing, non-consumable resource that exists almost everywhere, history. We make history come alive.
Very few attempts have been made to bridge the gap between living history and themed entertainment. Through these unique and new concepts, we see that living history can be entertaining and profitable, while, at the same time, educational.
Several entities such as municipalities, civic business development groups, private land owners, and Indian Tribes have come to the realization that thousands of individuals pass through their communities on a daily basis, and with them pass hundreds of thousands of dollars. Leasure and Associates can provide the concepts and designs that will stop the traffic, get people off of the highway and into exceptionally well conceived attractions that will, indeed, enhance their lives.
Lynn is the President and C.E.O. of Leasure Tourism Development. For the past 28 years, he has established and operated tourism related businesses around the world, including hunting and fishing lodges in Alaska; a flyout trout fishing lodge and resort in Southern Chile; two yacht chartering operations and marinas in Tonga and Tahiti in the South Pacific; a wholesale tour company in Hawaii, with branches in Samoa, Tonga and Fiji; and a retail travel agency in Utah.
In 1987, Lynn designed and wrote a master plan for a $500 million multipurpose destination resort to be built in the Southwestern part of the United States. His work on this project subsequently led to the creation of the consulting company of Leasure and Associates. In 1997, Lynn was a featured speaker and presenter at the South Dakota Governor’s Conference on Tourism and the Idaho Governor's Conference on Tourism. He was also invited to address the annual conference of the Alliance of Tribal Tourism Advocates (ATTA).
The firm took the lead role in creating the feasibility study for the establishment of passenger rail service to the Golden Spike National Historic Site, as well as the creation of a national campaign plan for raising $30 million for its construction. The firm has also consulted on conceptual designs for national parks in Idaho and Texas, as well as creating a conceptual design for a mining heritage project in Utah.
Leasure and Associates has completed a recreational evaluation plan for the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe in South Dakota, and is presently in charge of implementing that plan. In association therewith, the firm was selected to generate a corridor management plan for its concept of a Native American Scenic Byway which crosses the Lower Brule Reservation. The firm has also developed the conceptual design for a major themed living history project in the Black Hills of South Dakota and is now implementing the project. Under Lynn's direction, the firm has also provided conceptual designs for the theme and living history exhibits for the National Oregon/California Trail Center at Clover Creek in Montpelier, Idaho. It has also created the conceptual design for a major attraction in Southeast Alaska and a destination resort in Utah.
Leasure and Associates has also designed an attraction called "the Nations of the Native West" which showcases the Great Basin and Plains Indian Tribes. Another project, "the Pageant of the Plains," is an original concept for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe which illustrates in pageant form the conflict between Sitting Bull and General Custer.
Leasure and Associates has also desinged the Landspeed Hall of Fame which will show vehicles which have set world speed records at the Salt Flats west of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Lynn holds a degree in Ag. Business Management from California State Polytechnical University.
